Maroons win back-to-back games against Waterloo to close out 2025

The Chatham Maroons are on a mini winning streak after beating the Waterloo Siskins in back-to-back games.

The two teams faced off in Waterloo on Friday, with the Maroons winning 8-4.

Waterloo scored the first two goals of the game seven minutes into the first period, but the Maroons would tie the game before the intermission. Kaden Sienko scored his sixth goal of the season from Carter Chadwick and Alexander Lisi before Ewan McChesney got his 14th goal from Lisi and Zanutto.

Each team would score twice in the second period, with the Maroons' goals being scored by Zanutto and Xandre Aitken. Zanutto's 23rd goal of the season was unassisted, while Aitken's fifth goal was assisted by Aidan Edwards.

The third period is when the Maroons would take over the game, scoring four times.

Edwards got his eighth goal from Brody Najim and Lisi before Sienko added his second of the game from Chadwick and Max Skinner.

Zanutto would also get a second goal, from McChesney and Lisi, while Lisi capped off a five-point night with his 12th goal, from Sienko and McChesney.

Fifteen-year-old Rylan Da Costa made 32 saves for his first career Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) win.

The two teams played again on Sunday in Chatham, with the game seeing just two goals. Chatham would win 2-1 in a shootout.

Waterloo opened the scoring in the first period, with the Maroons tying the game late in the second period thanks to Jaxon Priddle. His 12th goal was assisted by Chadwick and Boris Genov.

Maroons' goalie Viljami Kukkola and Waterloo's goalie Kobe Nadalin combined to make 83 saves.

The shootout is where the Maroons' offense got a spark as both Lisi and Drew Ferenc would score, while Kukkola stopped both shots he faced.

The Maroons are now off until January 3, 2026, when they travel to St. Marys to take on the Lincolns.
