Health Unit warns of measles exposure in Markdale

Grey Bruce Public Health (GBPH) is advising the public of a new measles exposure location in Markdale.

As part of an ongoing contact tracing investigation, the Health Unit determined that individuals could have been exposed to the measles virus at the South East Grey Community Health Centre on Tuesday.

The exposure window is from 2:25 to 5 p.m., as the virus can live in the air for up to two hours after an infected individual leaves the area.

Anyone who was present at this location during the exposure window should confirm their vaccination status and if not protected against measles, they should contact their healthcare provider or GBPH to receive post-exposure treatment.

Public Health Ontario's weekly report on the measles outbreak shows that cases in Grey Bruce have doubled since April 23, with 11 discovered in the last week.

On Monday, GBPH noted several locations in Hanover where people could have been exposed.
