Sarnia police have arrested two men after pay stations at an Ontario Street car wash were damaged.
Officers were called to the scene around 12:14 a.m. Sunday. The suspects were described as wearing dark clothing and carrying bags, with one accused on a bike.
Police allege they found two men matching the descriptions in one of the car wash bays after arriving at the scene. When the suspects saw the police, they fled, one on foot and the other on a bike.
Officials say the man on foot was tackled to the ground. He then resisted police arrest. Police hit the man with empty hand strikes to gain control and arrest the man.
The man on the bike fled to an apartment building on Devine Street. Police located him due to the fresh bicycle tracks in the snow. After knocking on the unit door, the occupants pushed the suspect out of the unit.
Both men were subject to probation orders at the time of this incident.
The 24-year-old man and the 39-year-old man were charged with mischief under $5,000 and multiple counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The 24-year-old man was additionally charged with possession of break-and-enter tools, theft under $5,000, and resisting arrest.
Following their bail hearings, the pair was released with conditions.
