Construction activity in Sarnia is ahead of last year's pace.
A total of 43 building permits were issued at city hall last month, valued at over $4.77 million.
A $675,000 permit for an interior fit-up at the Sarnia Medical Group on Dundas Street was issued in August, as well as a $1.5 million permit for a new home on Lakeshore Road.
A permit was also issued for renovations at Progressive Auto Sales Arena, valued at $75,000.
The monthly statistics included three permits for a single-family dwellings, bringing the year-to-date total for new homes to 26.
To date, 309 permits have been issued in Sarnia, up from 275 in the first eight months of 2025.
