OPP arrest two alleged impaired drivers within two hours

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy again with more alleged impaired drivers being arrested.

Essex County officers dealt with two incidents within a two-hour period on Wednesday night.

The first was a few minutes after 10 p.m. Members of the Kingsville and Leamington detachments were called due to a report of a driver behaving erratically on the eastbound Highway 3.

After searching the area, the vehicle was located on Talbot Street East near County Road 31 in Leamington. Police conducted a traffic stop and determined that the driver was impaired.

A 29-year-old Leamington man was charged with impaired driving, and driving with excessive blood alcohol content.

The second incident was shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Highway 3 near County Road 8 in Essex.

An OPP officer noticed a vehicle being driven in an unsafe manner and conducted a traffic stop. When speaking to the driver, the officer determined that alcohol had been consumed, conducted a roadside test, and arrested the driver.

The 25-year-old man from Essex was charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood alcohol content, and unsafe movement on a lane or shoulder.

The charges have not been proven in court. Both suspects will have a chance to respond in separate appearances in a Windsor court in two weeks.
