Goodfellows paper drive shatters 2025 target

Windsor-Essex residents came through in a big way in last week's Goodfellows paper fundraiser.

The three-day paper drive took place in Windsor, Tecumseh, and LaSalle, and organizers say the total surpassed their $375,000 goal.

The total was $381,575.

"These funds allow us to keep our doors open and our essential programs running year-round," said paper drive chairman Steve Harrison. "From our food bank and school nutrition initiatives to our support for seniors and vulnerable community members, these services would not be possible without the sustained generosity of our neighbours."

Volunteers were on street corners from Thursday to Saturday, selling special editions of the Windsor Star.

The proceeds from the paper drive not only support the group's longstanding "No Child Without a Christmas" motto, but also services like the Christmas Dinner box, and year-long projects like the Goodfellows food bank, children's breakfast programs, school nutrition program, and lunch bags for the homeless.

The fundraiser was in its 115th year.
