Now that the City of Windsor has unveiled its draft budget, residents are invited to learn about it and how to interpret it.
Engage Windsor is offering a free, online workshop on Sunday afternoon. It will be cohosted by Windsor Ward 9 Councillor Kieran McKenzie and community advocate Darcie Renaud.
"Through Engage Windsor, we are working to demystify the municipal budget process, because a city’s budget is its ultimate statement of values," said McKenzie. "This conversation is about giving residents a seat at the table to help create the future Windsor deserves."
During the one-hour online workshop, residents will be presented with the draft capital and operational budgets for 2026, allowing them to gain a better understanding of the spending plan as budget deliberations begin.
"I’m grateful to Engage Windsor for hosting a space where residents can learn together," said Renaud. "In Windsor, the budget can be especially hard to decode, even for people who want to pay attention. This workshop is about breaking it down in plain language so residents can understand what’s at stake and feel more confident speaking up."
Mayor Drew Dilkens announced the draft budget on Thursday, with a proposed zero per cent property tax increase.
The workshop is free, but registration is required in advance. It begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
