LaSalle looking for input on public transit possibilities

The Town of LaSalle is inviting residents to a public open house next month to talk about the town's transit needs over the next five years.

LaSalle Transit Route 25 was introduced in 2017, and between 2023 and 2025, it averaged around 32,000 rides a year.

Transit service has exceeded the town's expectations, but possibilities for the route have changed since it first started. Once those changes are understood, the town can better align its strategies and anticipate future opportunities between LaSalle Transit and neighbouring systems.

The town and representatives from Left Turn Right Turn, an Ontario-based firm, will hold the open house on March 3 in the lobby of the Vollmer Centre between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and again between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

"Whether you ride transit often, once in a while, or not at all, the public's input helps us understand what the community needs and what should be prioritized," said Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Peter Marra. "We hope to hear about experiences riding the current system, expectations, and ideas for the future."

Those unable to attend the open house can answer an online survey or leave comments on the community engagement page on PlaceSpeak in March.

The route in LaSalle is covered by two buses; one starting at St. Clair College and the other around Morton Drive at Front Road. The route takes about 45 minutes to ride and is within walking distance to 70 per cent of the homes in LaSalle's urban area.
