Man faces 19 charges in weekend knife incident

Windsor police say a man is facing 19 charges in connection with a knife incident Friday night.

Officers responded to a report of a man armed with a weapon near the intersection of Ouellette Avenue and Giles Boulevard at around 9 p.m.

Police said a person claimed to be confronted by a masked man carrying a hunting knife as they approached their vehicle in a nearby parking lot.

It's alleged the suspect yelled at the individual and pointed the knife in their direction.

Police said the victim was able to enter their vehicle and drive away, as the suspect followed on foot.

Officers quickly located a suspect matching the man's description in the area of Dufferin Place.

A 41-year-old man is charged with assault with a weapon, nine counts of possession of a weapon contrary to an order, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of break-in instruments, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence and five counts of breaching a probation order.
