LaSalle police have confirmed that they are investigating the town's first homicide in four years.
Few details have been released, but officers responded to Todd Lane near Canada Street at around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A 45-year-old woman was found with serious stab wounds.
She was rushed to hospital where she later passed away from her injuries.
The victim has not been publicly identified as police are working to notify loved ones.
A heavy police presence remains in the area.
Police say that the last homicide in LaSalle was in March 2022.
