Windsor to move away from direct delivery of 211

The City of Windsor says it will transition away from directly delivering 211 call centre community information services.

Residents will still have access to 211 services, but they'll be delivered by Ontario's accredited 211 network instead.

Following a review of the city's 311 Customer Contact Centre, which included a review of alternative service delivery options, the city has decided to keep those services in-house.

Last year, 311 handled more than 135,00 inquiries, and the city said it will focus on operational enhancements and improving digital service options.

The service can be reached through multiple channels, including through the call centre, which operates from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and online and mobile self-service options that are up and running 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Council's decision reflects a balanced approach that prioritizes service reliability, financial responsibility, and long-term operational stability, while continuing to ensure Windsor residents have access to the information and services they need," said a release.
