A Windsor-Essex manufacturer of medical simulation "phantoms" has received a boost from Queens Park.
True Phantom Solutions Inc., a Tecumseh-based company, announced on Monday a $1.4-million investment to expand its current product lines and its manufacturing capabilities. The investment is buoyed by a $188,000 grant from the Ontario government's Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.
The investment will also add six new full-time jobs.
"Through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, our government is helping local manufacturers invest in advanced technology, bring new products to market and strengthen our region's reputation as a hub for innovation and advanced manufacturing," said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie.
The company was created in 2014, and has a worldwide clientele for its line of lifelike medical simulators, or phantoms. They resemble the actual physical makeup of human and animal bones and tissue. The phantoms are used for medical research and training.
The investment will allow the firm to purchase advanced equipment to help move its phantom production to the next level and create new products such as female full-body and torso phantoms, and a small canine phantom.
