The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has issued a heat warning for Thursday.
It issued the warning Thursday morning based on information from Environment and Climate Change Canada that the temperature will reach the threshold.
The health unit issues a heat warning whenever there are two or more consecutive days of daytime highs equal to or above 31 C, overnight temperatures are 21 C or higher, or when the humidex reaches 42 C.
It wants residents to know heat-related illness is preventable. It recommends drinking water even when you're not thirsty, taking a cool bath or shower, and limiting outdoor activities to the coolest part of the day.
Anyone can suffer a heat-related illness, but older adults, babies and small children, those who work outside, and those with certain medical conditions are most at risk.
Warning signs of a heat-related illness include dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, weakness and confusion. Anyone suffering those symptoms should seek medical attention immediately.
