LaSalle crash takes out hydro pole, results in arrest

An Amherstburg man has been charged after a weekend collision closed a LaSalle road for hours.

First responders were called at around 2 a.m. on Sunday to the area of Todd Lane and Malden Road. When police arrived, they found a pickup truck had slammed into a hydro pole.

The impact was hard enough to knock hydro wires to the ground. Some area residents were left without power.

LaSalle police officers spoke with the driver and determined signs of impairment.

The 23-year-old driver was charged with driving while impaired and driving with a high blood-alcohol concentration.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The road was closed for hours on Sunday while the area was cleared and the pole was repaired.
