Host families needed to house international students from Brazil

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board is seeking families willing to host an international high school student from Brazil next year.

The school board, in partnership with MLI Homestay, says two groups of scholarship students, aged 15 to 17, will travel to Windsor, attend local secondary schools, improve their English language skills, and experience Canadian culture.

Local families are needed to open their homes and provide a safe, welcoming environment during their stay. The students are eager to become part of Canadian family life, participate in school activities, and build friendships.

"Hosting an international student is one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference in the life of a young person," said a release from MLI Homestay. "These students arrive with excitement, curiosity, and a desire to learn. The memories and connections created often last a lifetime."

The first group of students will arrive in Windsor in February 2027 and stay for 16 weeks. The second will stay for 12 weeks and will arrive in April.

Interested host families are needed immediately for 2027, and those who wish to host a student can contact MLI Homestay by calling or texting 226-724-9646 and filling out a short form.

Families with children, empty-nesters, retirees, and single adult households are invited to apply.
