Individuals looking for work or who want to learn more about the childcare sector are invited to a job fair.
Many local childcare providers will get together on Wednesday, April 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Sarnia Branch 62, for the Child Care and Early Years Career Fair.
Participating childcare providers are recruiting for both full-time and part-time positions. Some of the available roles include Early Childhood Educators (ECEs), Educator Assistants, cooks, support staff, and supervisory positions.
"There is going to be approximately 12 providers from across Lambton County, some urban and rural providers. There will be childcare providers that currently have a purchase of service agreement with the County of Lambton and are registered with the Canada Wide early learning child care program," said Supervisor for Childcare and EarlyON, Jackie Sanderson. "This is an annual event that we're proud to champion and support the early years in child care career fairs, attracting and retaining early childhood educators. There historically has been anywhere from 50 to 100 participants."
The Lambton Works Centre team will also be on site, providing employment readiness support to job seekers.
"You can leave your resume with the childcare provider if you meet any criteria for an open position that they have. They might do a brief screening at the career fair, and again, Lambton Works has been able to assist in the past with providing on-site interviews," said Sanderson.
