Windsor Goodfellows celebrate 115 years with paper drive

Make sure you have some spare change in your vehicle on Thursday morning for volunteers taking part in the annual Windsor Goodfellows paper drive.

Volunteers will be on street corners starting Thursday morning for the 115th annual fundraiser, which wraps up on Saturday.

"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it provides nearly 45 per cent of the funds we rely on annually to operate our programs," said Steve Harrison, the Chair of the Old Newsboys Paper Sales. "Every dollar truly makes a difference, and the support of our community keeps this tradition alive."

For every dollar donated, 95 cents goes directly back into the community, supporting year-round services like the Goodfellows food bank, children's breakfast programs, school nutrition program, lunch bags for the homeless, and the Christmas Dinner box.

Once again, the organization is partnering with the Windsor Star, a partnership that dates back to 1914.

Volunteers will also be present at Walmart locations in Windsor and at Zehrs stores in Tecumseh and LaSalle. They'll have tap-to-donate terminals for those who may not have cash on hand.
