UPDATE: Cause of weekend house fire undetermined

Windsor fire officials say two people have been displaced and one dog perished in a weekend house fire.

Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, police and firefighters responded to the home on Byng Road near Lappan Avenue following reports of a blaze.

A man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after jumping from a second-story window to escape the fire.

According to responding officials, one dog died in the fire, firefighters rescued a cat, and two other pets remain unaccounted for.

The Windsor Police Arson Unit was on scene to investigate the incident, but fire officials reported on Monday that the cause of the fire was undetermined.

The fire originated on the rear deck of the house, and the estimated damage is $550,000.
